ReactOS Continues to Make Strides with its Graphical Installer
You may remember a few months ago when ReactOS, the open-source Windows project, announced their plans to improve their GUI setup and installation. Well, those plans are turning into reality as the latest blog entry from ReactOS highlights the progress made on their GUI installer.
Instead of the usual text-mode “USETUP” mode, the team has been hard at work on a new GUI mode for the OS installer. And according to ReactOS developer Hbelusca, the improvements have been significant.
One area that has seen major improvements is the partition handling code, which is now fully functional in the GUI setup. But the team isn’t stopping there – they plan to continue enhancing the GUI setup mode to better compete with its Windows counterparts.
This is all part of ReactOS’ goal to achieve API/ABI compatibility with Windows drivers and software. And with these recent developments, they are one step closer to that goal.
